3d printed footwear
The Cryptide
The Cryptide is a 3D-printed sneaker, made of a single material. It is a result of simulation-driven design by Stephan Henrich.
Named after cryptids-creatures whose existence is unproven yet persist in folklore — it embodies the mystery of the unknown.
This 30-second film unravels a digital expedition to uncover its existence. But the question remains: Is it real?

The film is structured as a search. Blurry, distorted imagery, AI scans and tracking symbols suggest scientific discovery, and dark silhouettes deepen the mystery. Each glimpse conceals as much as it reveals, leaving the audience questioning whether The Cryptide is an artifact, a relic, or a beautifully crafted illusion.
Bringing The Cryptide to life was as much an experiment as it was a design process. Through iterative R&D, prototyping, and visual exploration, we tested different styles, materials, and storytelling techniques—refining both the sneaker and the way it was presented. Every iteration pushed the concept further.
The sound is built around a track by the band Troum, an atmospheric composition that sets the tone. We added voiceovers from old documentaries about cryptids like Loch Ness and Bigfoot, reinforcing the theme of mystery. Musician Patrick Puszko then contributed additional sound elements and design, shaping the final piece.
